Opportunity Awaits...

I'm still shocked that I have been selected as one of the 60 students to participate in this year's March of Remembrance and Hope (MRH).

The trip which will place me in Germany and Poland for nine days learning about the Holocaust's effect then, now, and in the future. Surrounded by other student leaders from across Canada it will be our goal to come together and learn how we can go back to our communities as leaders to educate others about this tragic event and how we can prevent a similar situation from ever occurring again.

As an opportunity few will ever have I can only hope that I will walk away from this experience changed. This trip is an opportunity for all those who go, and all of those surrounding someone who is going to take something away from this experience. But what that is we can only wait and see. That's why I feel the quote I have chose is so fitting for this first post.

My purpose for this blog is to keep all of you up to date on my journey. It was one of my ideas as to how I would take what I learn and share it with those around me. Over the next 6 months I plan to write down not only experiences from MRH but also my thoughts and feelings. My hope is that everyone who reads this can take something away from it to contribute to a better tomorrow.
